YWCA Clinton Update – November 17, 2020

The health and safety of our YWCA family and community continues to be our top priority.

Below is a list of operational changes we have implemented due to the Governor’s mandate dated 11/16/20.  We thank you for your continued patience and cooperation as we navigate this difficult time together. 

YWCA Clinton continues to take proactive measures to diminish the spread of coronavirus following CDC guidelines, along with recommendations from the Iowa Department of Public Health and the Iowa Department of Human Services.  

We will continue to provide the following essential services to help working families and others as needed:

  • Continue to provide licensed Child Care at YWCA Children’s Centers to serve working families as long as proper staffing can be maintained. We will observe classroom quarantines as needed and appreciate our families’ understanding when we have to implement them.    
  • We will continue to provide childcare openings for essential workers as available. Please call 563-244-8340 for openings. 
  • Continue to provide K-5 Kids Camp to serve working families as proper staffing can be maintained. Please call 563-212-4001 for more information.   We will observe classroom quarantines as needed and appreciate our families’ understanding when we have to implement them.    
  • Continue to provide services for our most vulnerable homeless and near homeless individuals and families through the YWCA Empowerment Center. Please call 1-833-849-8976 if you are in need of housing or at risk of eviction.
  • Continue to work closely with county and state health departments and CDC for guidance and recommendations.

To ensure the safety or our members, staff, and guests:

General

  • We will maintain our regular business hours as staff are available to do so.
  • We appreciate your patience and understanding as closures may be needed due to inability to maintain proper staffing levels.
  • All staff will be required to wear at mask at all times unless there is a written exception from a physician.
  • All patrons will be required to wear a mask upon entry and in all common areas.
  • Patrons and members will need to bring in their own masks for their personal use.
  • Temperatures and a certification of good health will be required to be documented of all who enter the facility. Anyone with a fever will not permitted to use the facility.
  • All entering facility will be required to maintain physical distance of 6 feet.
  • Those who have symptoms or have family members who are experiencing symptoms are required to self-identify and should not enter the facility.
  • All events are cancelled until further notice.
  • All in-person meetings are cancelled unless social distancing and masks can be maintained.
  • Regular cleaning and disinfecting will take place throughout day based on posted schedule.

Fitness memberships

  • Fitness classes are cancelled until further notice as per governor’s mandate.
  • Our fitness facilities will remain open with social distancing required.
  • The YWCA pool will remain open with social distancing required.
  • Locker rooms will remain open with social distancing required. Masks should be worn when not showering.
  • Members may remove masks only when actively working out and while able to maintain social distance and should put mask back on immediately after work out.
  • All patrons will be required to spray down equipment BOTH before and after use.
  • Anyone not following these procedures will receive one warning and on the second warning will be barred from using the facility for a minimum of one week.
  • All staff and patrons using common areas will be required to wear a mask at all times. (Members will need to bring in their own masks for their personal use).
  • The babysitting room is closed until further notice.

AQUATICS

  • Swim lessons are cancelled until further notice as per governor’s mandate. A prorated credit will be given towards future lessons for those currently enrolled in lessons and who are Nonmembers, Youth Activity, and Worthy Child.
  • A maximum of 15 people will be allowed into pool area. Will enforce a 1-hour maximum time use as needed.   Patrons may call ahead to inquire about current availability.  A sign-up system may be implemented as future needs arise. 
  • The sauna and hot tub closed until further notice.

Childcare & Youth

  • Masks are required for children three and older as per governor’s mandate.  Masks may be removed when eating and playing outdoors as per DHS guidelines.  
  • Staff and children with symptoms of COVID-19 are required to stay home.
  • We will be taking temperatures of children and staff. Children and staff with temperature greater than 100 degrees will not be allowed into the program and sent home.
  • Increased handwashing throughout the day.
  • Increased activities with social distancing where possible.
  • Parents/caregivers may not enter facility, must drop children off to YWCA staff at entry.
  • Sending written notification home with parents, staff and children on signs and symptoms and best practices.
  • Extra cleaning and disinfecting precautions are being implemented in addition to regular procedures.

Empowerment Center – Homelessness and Near Homeless Services

  • Clients will continue to be served via phone. Please call 1-833-849-8976 if you are in need of housing assistance or at risk of being evicted.

EVENT CANCELLATIONS

  • All events are cancelled until further notice.

YWCA Clinton Update – March 17, 2020

At YWCA Clinton, the health and safety of our community is our top priority.  With the rapidly growing concern about the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) YWCA Clinton strives to take proactive measures to diminish the spread of flu or coronavirus.

We are following CDC guidelines, along with recommendations from the Iowa Department of Public Health and the Iowa Department of Human Services.   We are closely monitoring this fluid situation and will assess next steps as more information comes to light.

  • Work closely with county and state health departments and CDC for guidance and recommendations.

To ensure the safety or our members, staff, and guests:

General

  • Employees, children, and guests who have symptoms or have family members who are experiencing symptoms will not be permitted to enter the facility.
  • Signs have been posted advising of symptoms and best practices to stay healthy.
  • All meetings and events will be cancelled through April 16, 2020, unless otherwise notified.
  • YWCA Staff will be available for general phone calls from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday.

Fitness memberships

  • Due to the Governor’s mandate and for the health and safety of our community, our fitness facilities and our pool will close until further notice.
  • We will freeze all memberships effective March 17, 2020. Monthly EFT’s will also be frozen until we are able to open the facilities.

Swim Lessons – are cancelled this session effective immediately.

  • Following our written policy to mirror school closings, lessons are cancelled effective immediately.
  • Full-pay lessons will receive a credit of 50% of their fee to apply to future swim lessons.

Childcare & Youth

  • Staff and children with symptoms of COVID-19 are required to stay home.
  • Upon check-in, we will be taking temperatures of children. Children found with a temperature greater than 100 degrees will not be allowed into the program.
  • Increased handwashing throughout the day.
  • Increased activities with social distancing where possible.
  • Implementing curbside drop off. We are notifying parents to please drop off / pick up at the childcare back entrance by the library.
  • Sending written notification home daily with parents, staff and children on signs and symptoms and best practices.
  • Extra cleaning and disinfecting precautions are being implemented in addition to regular procedures.
  • In classrooms with low ratios, staff will be asked to reduce hours. If this creates a hardship, staff may notify their supervisor to request work in other departments where they may assist with cleaning or pick up other shifts as they become available. 

Empowerment Center – Homelessness and Near Homeless Services

  • Clients will continue to be served by appointment only and under social distancing practices. Where possible most of the intake process will be completed via phone.

EVENT CANCELLATIONS

  • Oodles of Noodles planned for March 26, 2020 is cancelled until further notice.
  • Woman of Achievement event may be rescheduled for a future date. Woman of Achievement voting deadline is still in effect.
  • All senior socials have been cancelled.
