FITNESS CLASSES

From boosting your mood, combating chronic disease, increasing your energy level and improving your brain function, exercise can improve your life! Start reaping the rewards of exercise today and join us in one of our many great fitness classes! The YWCA offers a variety of fitness classes that are FREE with membership. Community members are also welcome and may pay for classes by purchasing a Day Pass. FITNESS CLASSES

Fitness classes are free with membership, any day, any time!  Community members are also welcome and may participate by purchasing a YWCA Day Pass.

 

*Senior-friendly fitness classes that focus on fall-prevention, balance, muscle-strengthening and overall flexibility are also offered and open to all ages.

AM Jump Start

Start your day right with this fun, high-energy class! 15 minute blocks of free weights, abs and legs/gluts alternate with short bursts of cardio to make one non-stop, full-body workout! Have fun and try new things in this class that is perfect for all ages.

Core Control

Focusing on strengthening the muscles that make up the core. This class will work on core stability, rotational power, obliques, back, glutes, and pelvic area with the goal of improving everyday functional strength.

Knockout Cardio

Punching and kicking in a HIIT format to raise your heart rate and burn calories. Excellent stress reliever!

Stretch Fitness*

Stretch your way to a more flexible body and better range of motion in this low-intensity, relaxing class. Slow and controlled stretching using ropes and bands is performed while standing, sitting and lying on the floor. Join us for this calming, "feel-good" class.

Cardio Circuit*

Combine fun and fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance with a standing circuit workout. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are used with non-impact choreography. A chair is offered for support.

Cycling

All abilities are welcome in this class where you set your pace. Have fun sweating and pedaling with the music as we work up hills and race across flats while increasing strength and endurance. Please arrive a little early for bike set up.

No Fall Balance*

Specifically designed for those with balance issues, this class ues the stability balls and chairs to improve your balance through ankle strengthening and balance-focused exercises. A fun approach to better balance and increased confidence!

STRONG®

STRONG Nation combines body weight, muscle conditioning, cardio and plyometric training moves synced to original music that has been specifically designed to match every single move.

Circuit Training*

Strength training is the number one way to fight aging and improve balance. Our instructors will guide you using our Cybex strength training machines in this fast-moving class. You set the weight to achieve your personal goals, so this is the perfect place to start if you are new to lifting and the class is great for all ages, fitness levels, and abilities.

Chair Yoga for Arthritis

Yoga for Arthritis (Chair Yoga) Chair Yoga is for people living with arthritis or any other chronic condition that affects mobility and quality of life. Perfect for those new to exercise or the less-mobile who want to add flexibility, balance, cardio, strength and fun to their life!

Pump Up the Beat!

60 minute full-body strength workout featuring music from the late 90s and early 00s. Get strong and pumped with your favorite throwback hits!

Full body strength workout focusing on muscular endurance and achieving that toned look!

Tai Chi Walk*

Beginners-Intermediate. This 30-minute class teaches the traditional Yang-style tai chi form challenging and improving the flexibility, strength, balance and internal energy of the participants in a safe manner. Recalling and executing the moves of the traditional 24 yang-style form makes it both a good mental as well as stress-reducing workout. Class is done while standing.

W.O.W. Women Only Workout*

A heart-healthy, muscle toning, super circuit workout for women only. You set the weight to achieve your personal goals, so this is the perfect place to start if you are new to lifting. This class, using our Cybex strength training machines, is fast-moving and great for all ages, fitness levels, and abilities.

Yoga - Vinyasa

Yoga improves flexibility, balance and strength. Concentrate on your physical health and mental well-being with Vinyasa(flow) yoga. Participants move steadily through various poses of mid-level difficulty; modifications are offered for beginners. Perform breathing techniques to achieve enhanced concentration and increased energy levels. Relax with 10 minutes of meditation at the end of class.

Zumba®

Ditch the workout. Join the party! A total workout, combining all elements of fitness – cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility, boosted energy and a serious dose of awesome each time you leave class

Silver Sneakers® Classic*

Move to the music with a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills. A chair is used and weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance.

Chair (Formerly Silver Sneakers® Yoga)*

Move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of postures designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement. Restorative breathing exercises and final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity. Shoes may be kept on.

Silver Sneakers® Stability*

Silver Sneakers Stability primarily focuses on improving balance and lower body strength. The class is designed to decrease risk of falls and strengthen the ankle, knee and hop joints. A chair is used for support.
